When used at the right time and applied in the correct way, surface dressing can extend the life of the carriageway well in excess of 10–15 years (medium to high traffic 10 years; low to medium traffic 15 years RSTA/ADEPT).
Carriageway life can be enhanced still further using a non-woven Geosynthetic interlayer which is laid on the road surface ahead of the surface dressing process, forming a retention and regulating layer for the bitumen and allowing embedment of the chip with good adhesion.

We operate on all classes of road, single-track farm roads, driveways and even footpaths – in fact, any access way that can benefit from being surfaced dressed.
We have all the necessary equipment to complete any size job, from smaller projects where access may be tight, right up to the very largest. For smaller roads, we have a three-tonne tanker with a two-metre bar and a hand lance attachment, which is used with our matching 7.5 tonne gritter lorry. At the other end of the scale, we are able to utilise our own 13-tonne tanker, together with a Phoenix chipper, for larger roads and projects.
Surface dressing can be laid to a variety of designs, as a single, double or racked in finish. This allows a versatility to suit all aspects of use from carriageways and car parks to decorative sites.
It remains a suitable process that can be applied to bitumen macadam, concrete or unbound sub-bases as well as HRA/SMA and worn surface dressing sites.
